Denis Clemente & David Huertas meet for the first time

Humacao, PR - - Rookie point guard Denis Clemente and shooting guard David Huertas will  face each other for the first time as profesional players in the BSN (Baloncesto Superior Nacional), after playing together in the amature level with the Miami Tropics organization (AAU) and as professional this past season with the Club Marousi BC in Greece Basketball League.

Huertas a former NCAA Champion in 2006 with the Florida Gators and later transfer to the University of Mississippi, has play for the past three season with  Quebradillas Piratas in the BSN. Clemente beging his college career at University of Miami and transfering to the Kansas State Wildcats is playing for the Humacao Caciques as a rookie in the BSN.

This past saturday the Humacao Caciques were hosting the Quebradillas Piratas as part of the BSN schedule, this happen to be the first time Clemente and Huertas face each other. Boricuas Ballers in colaboration with Puerto Rico sporting news "Tiro Al Blanco" (TAB) catch up with this two upper coming puertorrican player before the game asking about they seem each other in a diferent uniform for the first time.

TAB reporter Emilio Perez, was in charge of the interviewing David Huertas and Denis Clemente.

Question: Did you ever thing playing together in the same team at Europa? How was that experience?

David: I was on the team (Marousi BC, Greece) first and our point guard was out of the team.  The team manager ask me about if Denis, has the potencial to be on the roster and I told them, of course has all the pontential (I know Denis since we were kids, back in Puerto Rico, then we also play together at the Miami Tropics). I was really happy when he arrive to the team, because Denis make my job easy on the court and out side the court a have a family member by me side.

Question: Since you arrive to Greece, David welcome you with open arms as a young brother. How did you feel coming in to a new team in mid-season and have the support of David since day one?

Denis: I was a great opportunity knowing that he (David) was on the team, because when you are far from home, you miss all your friends and family. We do almost everything together (watching basketball games and walking around knowing Greece) and over all it was a great experience after coming out of college.

Question: Now playing at home (Puerto Rico Basketball League) infront of family and friends. How you thing is going to be facing each other?

David: This is a real home coming for me, because this is the first game at my home town Humacao. About us, is going to feel weird after been playing together for the past three months (we only face each other on practice), but we going to compete and for sure not going to see us much on the court because we play diferent positions.

Question: If you (Denis) have the opportunity to face David on a switch play. You (Denis) think, you can take David to the hole?

Denis: (laugh) I don't look at the situation, like take him to the hole. But in the game we going to do, what we have to do and I think we won't have that situation on the game.

Question: Did you two know "Pilin Alvarez"?

David: He is great Mentor.

Denis: Of Course.

Question: Pilin ask, Who was the best player when you play together for the Miami Tropics?

David: We both had good numbers, but the best player was Josue Soto (now play with Isabela Gallitos at the BSN), definitely Josue was the best of the three.

Denis: We all three were good players and we always had people atention. But Josue always was the fan favorite.

Question: How many times Pilin hit you on the chest with his Championship Ring, when you wasn't at the top of your game?

David: A couple of times, because he (Pilin) always use his hand to congrats or encourage you to play better and he (Pilin) doesn't realize he had the ring on his hand. Sometimes Pilin call a time out and he congrats you with a hit on the head (I feel the ring).

Denis: When I wasn't playing at my best, he (Pilin) put preasure and I got a couple of hits too.

The Game was won by Denis team (Humacao Caciques) 98-95 over David team (Quebradillas Piratas).
