BIO

Professional
Orta began playing professionally for the Ponce Leones of the Puerto Rican BSN in 2008 after graduating from St. Peters College in New Jersey. His season high 25 point outburst came on April 18 vs. the San German Athleticos.

COLLEGE
As a junior, Orta led the Peacocks in scoring (13.3), starting all 30 of St. Peter's games, making 37 percent of his 3-point tries and 75 percent on free throws. As a sophomore, he helped St. Peter's to a 17-15 record. The Peacocks almost made the NCAA Tournament, but they lost the MAAC championship game to Iona. Orta averaged 11.7 points and earned first-team All-Rookie honors in the MAAC. He was the conference's second-highest-scoring rookie. In his St. Peter's debut, he scored 17 points, making all five of his three-pointers. He scored 27 points in his second game and became part of a loaded Peacocks backcourt along with Keydren Clark, who led the nation in scoring in 2004 and 2005. As a freshman, he attended the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez but did not play.

INTERNATIONAL
Orta represented Puerto Rico in 2003 at the FIBA Junior World Championships in Greece. He hit a clutch three-pointer in an 82-80 loss to the USA in the 5th-place game. He also represented Puerto Rico in the 2004 Under-21 Tournament of the Americas in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

HIGH SCHOOL
Orta played his high school ball at Miami Christian, teaming with Guillermo Diaz and Jesus Verdejo in the 2003 backcourt. The team was ranked in the top 10 nationally.
